Dear Parents,
Welcome to Harborview Elementary School- Kindergarten Open House, to be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 from 1:30 -5:00 PM. Tell your neighbors, friends, and relatives about our K Open House! The Harborview staff is looking forward to getting to know you and your child. As a team, parents and staff help your child grow into an educated, caring, and responsible part of our community. Please bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate (or bring the original and we’ll make a copy for you) along with health information (their shot record).
The open house is a time for you to see a Kindergarten classroom and get to know our team. It is also a time for you to register your child for school year 2011-2012. We have information that will answer many of your questions. More information will be available, as the start of the school year gets closer. The first day of school for Kindergarteners will be on Monday, August 29, 2011. Bus service is provided in the morning, however at afternoon dismissal (1:00 pm), there is no bus service. Parents must arrange for picking up their child. Remember, in order to start school, children must be 5 years old by September 1, 2011.
We will assign students to classrooms in August after we have a more accurate student count. As it stands right now, we may have 2 regular Kindergarten classrooms, and a K/1 multiage classroom, which is part of the Tlingit Culture Language and Literacy (TCLL) special options program.
Thank you in advance for coming to our Kindergarten Open House and Registration. Getting our new students enrolled will allow us to plan for the new school year. If you have friends or relatives who have not registered, please encourage them to do so.
Feel free to call the Harborview office at 523-1850 for any questions that you may have. If you have inquiries about the TCLL program, you may contact Susan Arnold at 523-1704 or Kara Hollatz at 523-1880.
Sincerely,
Dave Stoltenburg
Harborview Principal
