Tlingit Culture Language and Literacy (TCLL) Program will be hosting a khoo.éex' on May 9, from 9 AM to 1 PM in the Harborview Elementary Gym. A khoo.éex' is an invitation to celebrate.
We will be celebrating a successful year of learning and honoring our elders, volunteers, and cultural specialists that have helped us understand and learn about Haa Aaní (our land) and Haa Khusteeyí (our culture). The TCLL students have worked very hard this year to prepare for the party, starting back in September with a fall gathering field trip.
The TCLL program has invited Mr Hans Chester's Glacier Valley 2nd Grade Class to maintain the balance between the schools, in the past Mr Chester's class has hosted four khoo.éex' and has invited TCLL each time. Also, Mary Folletti's Gastineau Tlingit Dancers will be guests and also performing. TCLL also invited the Harborview classrooms who will be joining us when their daily schedule permits.
TCLL parents please watch for announcements on how to help and be involved with the khoo.éex' and don't forget you have homework: Make sure your child wears their red TCLL t-shirt for the khoo.éex'!
