The goal of Harborview Elementary's Site Council is to decentralize decision-making to improve the effectiveness of our school community and maximize learning for students. The Council works to assure that all constituencies have a voice in the decisions that affect them. The Site Council is established according to Juneau School District Board Policy #8140.

The site council consists of 14 members representing the school community.  Terms of office are for two years and run from September to September. Voting to replace outgoing members is done in the fall at the beginning of the school year.  It is the desire of the Council that less than 50% of the members change in any one-year; therefore, consecutive terms are encouraged, but not required.

 

It is the goal of the Site Council that each meeting contain: 1)  a staff presentation about a specific aspect of the educational process, 2) a period for general public comment and 3) carrying out of Site Council business.

 

Harborview's Site Council meets every second Monday of the month from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. in the Harborview Library. 

 

Site Council meetings are open to everyone.
